Flying To and From Fresno

The city of Fresno has three airports, which makes flying to and from Fresno relatively easy. The airports are also strategically located far from one another to cater to different groups of people.

Formerly and more commonly called Fresno Air Terminal, the Fresno Yosemite International Airport is a public airport in south-eastern Fresno. Although it shares the same name with the famous national park, it is more than 60 miles away from it. Sitting on a 2150-acre piece of land, the airport has several runways and a helipad. It is the primary air transportation center for the entire San Joaquin Valley. The airport offers regularly scheduled commercial airline service.

The two other airports are Fresno Chandler Executive Airport and Sierra Sky Park Airport. The former is located two miles southwest of downtown Fresno. This airport is a public general aviation airport providing air transportation service in the central San Joaquin Valley. It is one of the oldest airports in California.

Finally, the Sierra Sky Airport is located seven miles northwest of the central business district of the city. It is a privately owned airport but is available for public use. This general aviation airport lies on 34 acres of land and contains one runway.

Now that you know that air transportation going in and out of Fresno is not difficult, start thinking about your airline tickets. If you find most of them too high for your budget and you want to get a really good deal on flights, don't worry. There are easy ways of getting cheap airline tickets. You just have to think of a strategy. The cheapest airline tickets are posted at the last minute. Airlines hate having vacant seats. Because of this, the prices of last minute flight tickets are much lower. Wait for their announcement of cheap ticket deal from a few days to a few hours before take-off.

If depending on last minute flights is too risky for you, you can also look for alternative airports. Remember that Fresno has three airports. Ticket prices to these airports are not the same. You'll be surprised that sometimes, they vary tremendously. You can also try airports in any nearby cities and make your way to Fresno by other means of transportation.
